Taxotere (docetaxel) is a chemotherapy drug commonly used to treat breast cancer. It is one of the most prescribed drugs in its class for breast cancer treatment and is often used when other treatments have failed. The drug has been linked to eye injuries, permanent vision loss, permanent hair loss, and other injuries.
Two separate multidistrict litigations (MDLs) have been set up for plaintiffs: one for eye injuries and another for hair loss. Plaintiffs have filed lawsuits against manufacturer, Sanofi-Aventis, for not warning users of the risks associated with the drug.
The majority of plaintiffs are female breast cancer survivors who were prescribed Taxotere before December 2015. Potential healthcare liens include Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and military healthcare payers.
