MASS TORT LIEN RESOLUTION
Elmiron Lien Resolution
Elmiron is a drug used to treat bladder pain or discomfort associated with interstitial cystitis. Thousands of lawsuits against the drug’s maker claim that plaintiffs suffered vision problems that can lead to blindness. The drug has come under fire for its potential link to serious eye damage in the forms of macular degeneration, pigmentary maulopathy, and retinal maculopathy.
Although approved by the FDA in 1996, the product's label was only updated in June 2020 to inform users of potential vision problems. Potential plaintiffs include men and women age 30 and over, although interstitial cystitis most often affects women over the age of 40. Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurance liens are the most likely types of repayment obligations to result from any future settlement.
